Bus Routes and Stops

INFORMATION FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR

The Transportation Department develops bus routes and stops each year. This information is shared with families and schools approximately one week before school begins. This year, we hope to share bus routes no later than Monday, August 31, 2026.

How do parents/guardians receive bus route information?

IWCS shares this information with families using several methods:

  • Parents/Guardians will receive bus route info directly from Principals (Remind messages, parent newsletters, etc.)
  • Parents/Guardians can view bus route info during Open House events
  • Parents/Guardians can contact their child's school for bus route details
  • Parents/Guardians can contact Transportation for their child's bus route details

Whenever possible, bus stops will placed at a street corner. Bus stops are designed to be no more than 2/10 (.2) miles from a student's home, per School Board policy. Parents are encouraged to walk elementary school students to and from the bus stop, and to be at the stop 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive.

For safety reasons, all students in Grade 3 or younger must have a parent/guardian present at the stop to receive them during PM dropoff. Parents/guardians who wish for their child to be self-release without them being present can speak with the school to complete a self-release waiver for their children.

All stop times are approximate and can vary based on conditions such as traffic, road conditions, and new stops based on student enrollment changes.

Isle of Wight County Schools uses Zonar MyView, a bus-tracking app designed to give families greater confidence, convenience, and connection when it comes to student transportation.

This powerful tool allows parents and guardians to stay informed about their child’s bus in real time—helping reduce the uncertainty of pick-up and drop-off times while enhancing overall safety and communication. Learn more about Zonar MyView on our webpage.
Please note that runs are continually updated through the first month of school.  You should arrive at the stop 10 minutes prior to the listed bus time.

For specific questions about your child's bus stop or route information, contact the individual school or the Transportation Office at 757-357-9920.

In addition, IWCS does not quote drop off times due to the variation based on when the buses leave school. The drop off times will become more consistent after the first week of school.
