SHS Graduation Moved Inside

This is an important message regarding Saturday's graduation at Smithfield High School.  We have been monitoring the weather leading up to graduation very closely.  The current forecast from the National Weather Service in Wakefield is indicating rain throughout today and overnight, with the rain continuing into Saturday morning. The ground at the football field will  be wet and muddy, making walking for participants and guests a safety concern.  In addition, the humidity level is projected to be very high in the morning.

Therefore, we have made the decision to move the Smithfield High graduation ceremony indoors.  The ceremony will take place in the gymnasium, with a live feed of the event available in the auditorium.   Seniors received 4 white tickets to use for gymnasium seating and 2 blue tickets for auditorium seating.  No other tickets will be accepted for the indoor event.

We understand that you may be disappointed, as are we, but we have not made this decision lightly.  We will be streaming the ceremony live through our YouTube channel to increase access to the event.  The broadcast will begin at 9am and will be available at:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEbX1bYJtlk

We congratulate your senior on their accomplishments while at Smithfield High and wish them all the best with their future plans.
