At a surprise breakfast on December 9, White was presented with a plaque by Superintendent Jim Thornton, The plaque, made by students in the Smithfield High MakerSpace, thanked White for her years of service to IWCS. “Forty-five years is amazing and you do an amazing job,” said Thornton. “We don’t have many employees get to forty-five and wanted to do something special for you.” She also received a service pin for her accomplishment.
White commented that she loves children and interacting with the community, which is why she enjoys driving a school bus. Although she said retirement was something she has been thinking about, she wasn’t ready to retire just yet. She thanked everyone who was there to honor her and shared that she was truly surprised by the event.
