On September 3, the Virginia Department of Education approved the continuation of the summer meal program through December 18. Any school-age child who is in need of meals can receive breakfast and lunch without charge. To maintain the safety guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), meals will be provided using a drive by/pickup model. They will be bagged and include both a breakfast and lunch.
Isle of Wight County Schools will distribute free meals to families on Fridays at two locations—Georgie Tyler Middle School in Windsor and Smithfield High School—beginning tomorrow, September 11. Meals can be picked up from 10:00am to 2:00pm at either location. Parents will receive 5 days-worth of breakfasts and lunches for each child.
