Windsor and Smithfield High Schools have been monitoring the weather in preparation for outdoor graduation ceremonies. Heavy rains have made the football fields unusable. Both schools received feedback from many families that, due to attendees traveling from out of town and having plans for celebratory events, keeping the existing dates for graduation will be more inclusive for all graduates and their families. Because of this, both schools have made the decision to move the graduation inside. WHS and SHS have secured an indoor location for their ceremonies. Liberty Live Church in Hampton, Virginia (1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton VA 23666) has made itself available and, due to the facility’s size, allows for guests to distance themselves based on preference. The facility is beautiful and will be a wonderful venue for our graduation ceremony. Masks will not be required for staff, students, or guests. The Windsor High ceremony has been moved to 11:00 am on June 11. The Smithfield High ceremony will be Saturday, June 12, at 10:00 am.
Families and guests are encouraged to allow enough travel time to account for possible openings at the James River Bridge.
Liberty will stream the ceremony live at https://libertylive.church/livestream/
