Joined by Isle of Wight Superintendent, Dr. Theo Cramer, school board members, Mark Wooster and Denise Tynes, and other leadership from Isle of Wight County schools, the Virginia Pork Council joined representatives and students attending the IWCS Agricultural Land Lab to celebrate youth education and for the ribbon cutting of the brand-new trailer for the Land Lab.
Jessica Cunningham, President, Virginia Pork Council said, "The VPC is proud to advocate and promote youth agriculture education through funding a livestock trailer for transporting livestock, including swine, for educational purposes. The Council was delighted to approve a 2023 grant to the the Isle of Wight County Schools Agricultural Land Laboratory, providing a brand-new livestock trailer, to promote opportunities for youth agriculture education."
"We are so grateful to receive this new trailer to provide continued opportunities for learning," said Daniel Judkins, Farm Manager, IOW Agricultural Land Laboratory. "We look forward to taking it to elementary and middle schools for field trips as well as supporting our local 4-H and FFA students who are showing swine among other livestock."
The IWCS Agricultural Land Laboratory is a unique, hands-on opportunity for students to learn about agriculture, as well as providing the opportunity to visit students of all ages and support youth showing swine.
