Nico wrote an essay for his application, which was reviewed by a panel of judges. In his essay, Nico states that being a member of the safety patrol helped him become a leader by being accountable for his actions and holding others responsible for theirs, and it has helped him work on the skills of integrity, dependability and promise keeping. Nico will be a 4th grader at Westside in the fall. Marie Berkeley is the sponsor for the Carrollton Safety Patrol and a school counselor at Carrollton Elementary School. Both were honored by the Isle of Wight County School Board in July.
