Jessica Futrell, the school nurse at Windsor Elementary, was instrumental in WES becoming the first school in Virginia to achieve the recognition as a Certified Heart Safe School through Project Adam. Recently, she shared this information with other school nurses at the annual school nurse conference held in Midlothian. Mrs. Futrell supported continuing education of other school nurses by developing a poster presentation which shared the benefits of the program and information on how schools could also participate in Project Adam. School nurses at the conference voted on the best presentations and she won first place out of the ten presenters. We thank Mrs. Futrell for not only supporting IWCS students, staff and parents, but also school nurses across the Commonwealth.
