Welcome to Isle of Wight County Schools Adult Education.  We are excited that you have chosen us to “Empower You to Inspire More”. 

 

Isle of Wight County Schools’ Adult Education classes are available throughout the school year.  Students ages 18+ are eligible to attend classes if you are not enrolled in a high school program.  You will have the opportunities to gain information on postsecondary careers, as well as gain employability skills and training.  We offer Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED®.

 

All classes are FREE!

GED Program Information

 

Any GED® scores earned prior to January 1, 2014, are invalid according to the new GED® exams.  Individuals who did not pass the GED® exam prior to this date, will need to take classes again.

 

Students will participate in the GED® testing exam online through PERARSONVUE testing centers.  Tests will include Reading and Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Math.  Individuals who desire to register for the test must sign up online by visiting www.GED.com.

 

In order to create an account, student must begin by creating a Profile on the MyGED® website.  An official practice test entitled GED® is also available on the website.

Adult Basic Education (ABE)

 

Classes are designed for students who are proficient in English, but want to improve their basic reading, writing, and math skills.

 

GED® Preparation Class

 

Classes feature instruction that is tailored to help meet the individual needs of each student.  Students can prepare to earn a GED® credential at their own pace.  Students are encouraged to take the official GED®  test after 40 hours of instruction per subject.

 

English for Speakers of Other Languages (EL)

 

Classes are designed for students who want to improve their written and spoken English.

 

IET Industrial Welding Class

 

Classes are designed for students who want to learn how to weld.  As a welding student, each student will take OSHA 10 course to receive OSHA certification is awarded.  Students will receive industry ready training for employment.
