School Safety
Isle of Wight County Schools partners with the Isle of Wight Sheriff's Office to provide School Resource Officers (SRO) in all middle and high schools, and now in all elementary schools beginning in the fall of 2022. The SRO program provides school administrators and staff with law enforcement resources and expertise to maintain safety, order, and discipline throughout the school environment.
Each year, schools in IWCS complete a school safety audit that is filed with the state. The document below shows the results of the most recent school safety audit.
The Chemical Hygiene Plan is a document designed to express the policies and procedures adopted by the Isle of Wight School Division, and relating to the safe operation of the school laboratory. The document is derived from the Laboratory Standard, a set of codes developed and presented in the Occupational Safety and Health Act Standard on Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals.
