Meetings
The Isle of Wight County School Board holds its regular meetings on the second Thursday of each month in the Auditorium of Westside Elementary School, 800 W. Main St., Smithfield, VA 23430. Any changes to the meeting schedule will be posted on the IWCS website.
Meetings begin at 5:00pm. After calling the meeting to order, the Board will vote to move into closed session. At 6:00 pm, the Board will reconvene in open session. Isle of Wight Achievers and special presentations occur shortly after 6:00 p.m.
Citizens wishing to speak during the citizens comments section of the meeting can file a Request to Speak form . The form may be obtained from any county school principal's office or the Superintendent's office. It is also available online. Requests to speak may also be made by contacting Jessica Whitlow, Board Clerk, at [email protected], or by calling 757-365-1619 prior to the meeting. Citizens may also sign up at the beginning of the meeting on the signup sheet placed at the entrance of the meeting room. Requests to speak during Citizen Comments must be made before 6:00pm the night of the meeting. Requests to speak during closed session must be made two days prior to the meeting by contacting the Board Clerk.
The School Board of Isle of Wight County is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. If you will require an accommodation or sign language interpreter to participate in the meeting, reasonable accommodations can be made upon request. Please make a request to the Clerk of the School Board at least five (5) days in advance of the meeting at 757-365-1619.
The Isle of Wight County School Board holds Regular School Board meetings at 5:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month (*unless otherwise announced) in the Auditorium of Westside Elementary School, 800 W. Main St., Smithfield, VA 23430. The School Board will open the meeting at 5:00 p.m. and go into Closed Session shortly thereafter. Following Closed Session, the School Board will reconvene back into Open Session at approximately 6:00 p.m. with the recognition of Isle of Wight Achievers.

Meeting minutes that are posted prior to 2021 in BoardDocs are the unofficial meeting minutes. Official meeting minutes are kept in the School Board Clerk’s office and can be requested. School Board meeting minutes from 2021 and beyond will be posted under the meetings tab in BoardDocs and will be the official meeting minutes.
